Keep it. DLP still covers email, files, and endpoints. It was not built for AI traffic, where sensitive data moves as ordinary sentences inside API calls, often in Arabic or mixed with English. Protecto covers that path.
Basic redaction can, because a blank placeholder tells the model nothing. Protecto uses consistent, format-preserving tokens, so the same person maps to the same token and the model can still tell who is who. Test it on your own data before relying on any figure.
Protecto detects 50+ entity types out of the box and supports custom entities, so you can add identifiers specific to Oman, such as the civil number.
Protecto detects 50+ entity types out of the box, covering personal data (PII), health data (PHI), and payment card data (PCI). If your data includes identifiers that are not covered by default, such as the Omani civil number, you can add custom entities. Detection works in Arabic, English, French, German, Spanish, Dutch, and Japanese, with more languages on request.
Not as a general rule. Article 23 restricts transfers outside Oman instead. Under the Executive Regulations, a transfer needs the data subject’s express consent unless the data is anonymized, the recipient must give adequate protection, and you must assess the transfer. Confirm your position with counsel.
It can. Since Royal Decree 68/2026 took effect on 7 September 2026, the law covers processing of personal data of individuals in Oman whether the processing happens inside or outside the country.
Tokenization is pseudonymization. Whoever holds the token mapping can reverse it, so treat the data inside your environment as personal data. What changes is what the model provider receives: tokens, not readable personal data. Whether that counts as anonymized under Omani law is a question for your counsel.
Preserve useful AI context while addressing permissions, sensitive data, and overseas access.
